Greg Monroe and Elena Delle Donne Join Elite List of Morgan Wootten’s National High School Basketball Players of the Year Award Winners
OAK BROOK, Ill. (March 19, 200
- Greg Monroe, the 6-10, 220 lb. prep superstar from Helen Cox High School in Gretna, La., was named the twelfth-annual Morgan Wootten Award winner today. Previous winners include Greg Oden (2006), Dwight Howard (2004), LeBron James (2003), Jason Williams (1999) and the Award’s first recipient Shane Battier (1997).
Joining Monroe in the honor is McDonald’s All American® Female Player of the Year, Elena Delle Donne, from Ursuline Academy in Greenville, Del. Delle Donne, who has led Ursuline to four straight Delaware State Championship Titles is the seventh female to be added to the impressive list that includes Tina Charles (2006, Connecticut), Abby Waner (2005, Duke), Candace Parker (2004, Tennessee), Ivory Latta (2003, UNC) and Nicole Wolff (2002, Connecticut).
