This past weekend at the Comcast Center there was a special surprise guest in attendance for the Terrapins game against the University of Miami. The guest was five star recruit Lance Stephenson (Lincoln, NY) who decided to take an official visit to Maryland last weekend.

The official visit came as a big surprise since in the past few weeks; University of Maryland never got mentioned in his list of schools he was considering. The school list includes St. John’s, Memphis, USC and Kansas. One thing on “Terrapins” side might be that his high school teammate James Padgett signed with Maryland in the fall.

The recruitment of Lance Stephenson will continue to be long and drawn out and when it comes down to it he is destined to be a one and done player at the college level next year. So it should be interesting over the next few months to see if anymore surprise school show up on his radar.

Lance Stephenson is averaging 32.5 points and 11.6 rebounds per game this season.

Will Regan (Nichols, NY) Q&A Class of 2010

PHR: What school’s are on your list?

WR: Michigan, Maryland, Arizona State and Stanford

PHR: Do you have a favorite?

WR: No I mean it’s really open those are just the schools who have contacted me and I like.

PHR: What are you looking for in a program?

WR: Teammates I can get along with and a good school with high academics. A good school all around where you can have a good experience.

PHR: Have you taken any un-official or official visits yet?

WR: Yes, I have taken a lot of visits which include the four schools I mentioned earlier along with Duke, Providence and Penn State.

PHR: Do you have a timetable set for when you will commit?

WR: After the high school season and before the end of the AAU season.

Will Regan is a 6’8 very fundamentally skilled post player with the ability to step outside and hit the 3 pointer with a smooth looking stroke. He is a monster on the boards going after every shot that goes up on both ends. On the defensive end he has the ability to block shots and also start the break with nice crisp outlet passes to guards on the wings. He uses an array of post moves with either hand on the inside to score and also has a nice touch off the glass from either block. He will definitely be a nice addition to any team on his list with his aggressiveness on the boards and high basketball I.Q. along with playing a 100% all the time.

Roscoe Smith (Walbrook, MD) Q&A Class of 2010

PHR: What school’s are on your list?

RS: Connecticut, Georgetown, UNC, Kansas, Maryland, Texas, Memphis, Florida, USC, UCLA, Virginia, Virginia Tech and more.

PHR: Do you have a favorite?

RS: Everybody has an equally chance right now.

PHR: What are some of the deciding factors you are looking for in a program and school?

RS: Things I am really looking for is coaching, a coach and players I can feel comfortable around and play with.

Roscoe Smith is a 6’8 extremely long and athletic wing forward who plays aggressive at both ends of the floor. He attacks the rim well with either hand and uses his athletic ability to finish strong inside. He has range out beyond the 3pt line with ease and a nice mid-range pull up jumper. He uses his long frame on the defensive end of the floor to alter and swat away shots with ease. He has a ton of upside which is why so many schools are after him for his services.
