The afternoon press conference that was set-up for Renardo Sidney to make his announcement on where he will play college ball next year had no surprises. After earlier in the week when UCLA dropped out of his recruitment, it was a no-brainer that he would end up at cross-town rival USC.

Now the only thing holding Renardo Sidney from finalizing the committment is get a qualifying SAT score when he takes the test March 16, 2009.

He has had an outstanding senior campaign posting big numbers and leading his team to a 24-3 record thus far. He is avgeraging 24.0 points, 10.6 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.

Roscoe Smith (Walbrook, MD) Q&A Class of 2010

PHR: What school’s are on your list?

RS: Connecticut, Georgetown, UNC, Kansas, Maryland, Texas, Memphis, Florida, USC, UCLA, Virginia, Virginia Tech and more.

PHR: Do you have a favorite?

RS: Everybody has an equally chance right now.

PHR: What are some of the deciding factors you are looking for in a program and school?

RS: Things I am really looking for is coaching, a coach and players I can feel comfortable around and play with.

Roscoe Smith is a 6’8 extremely long and athletic wing forward who plays aggressive at both ends of the floor. He attacks the rim well with either hand and uses his athletic ability to finish strong inside. He has range out beyond the 3pt line with ease and a nice mid-range pull up jumper. He uses his long frame on the defensive end of the floor to alter and swat away shots with ease. He has a ton of upside which is why so many schools are after him for his services.

Avery Bradley Heading to Findlay (NV)

One of the fastest rising seniors in the country Avery Bradley has decided to relocate for his senior season. He will be attending Findlay College Prep in Las Vegas, NV this season, the main reason behind the transfer is for Avery to improve his GPA so he will be eligible for his freshmen year of college.

Avery Bradley and Abdul Gaddy formed one of the best backcourts in the country last season at Bellarmine Prep in Washington. Each of them played for the (Northwest Panthers) AAU team this summer, they each had very successful summer’s on the circuit.

Once Abdul Gaddy decommitted from Arizona a few months ago it was thought that he and Avery would possibly attend the same college. Since then things have changed with each deciding that it will be better for both in the long run if they attend different colleges. Avery Bradley has a final 3 school’s in the running for his services which include Texas, UCLA and Kansas.

Findlay Prep now has a chance to make a real impact on the national scence this upcoming season after last year making a huge splash on the prep school scence. This year’s team will not include any fifth year seniors so they will play a national high school schedule instead of a Prep school schedule. The Findlay Prep squad now includes headliners Avery Bradley, Clarence Trent and D.J. Richardson.

Renardo Sidney (Fairfax, CA) Class of 2009

On Saturday night Renardo Sidney took an unofficial visit to Arizona State for their game against California. Coach Herb Sendek has really shown a big interest in the junior from Fairfax High School in the recent weeks.

Renardo Sidney is considered the top prospect in the class of 2009 and has interest from almost every school in the country. The reports out of Tempe, AZ are that Sidney was very impressed with Arizona State on his visit. Freshmen guard James Harden was a teammate of Renardo Sidney last year at Artesia High School they are still pretty tight with each other.

He has seen Coach Ben Howland from UCLA start to show a lot of interest also in gaining his services. They will have to make up for some lost time since cross-town rival USC has had Renardo on their radar for some time now. He has no timetable for making a decision on his college choice. Only time will tell where he will end up playing in the future but there is no denying his tremendous talent.
