2009 Primetime Shootout Preview @ Rutgers University

It’s that time again for the 2009 Primetime Shootout events and this year is loaded with talented from across the nation. The events will take place on five different days starting with Jan. 23, 2009 @ Rutgers University, Jan. 30-31, 2009 @ Villanova University and Feb. 14-15, 2009 @ Trenton Sovereign Bank Arena.

Some of the talented players that will be in attendance include DeMarcus Cousins (LeFlore, AL), Lance Stephenson (Lincoln, NY), James Padgett (Lincoln, NY), Shawn Williams (Duncanville, TX), Perry Jones (Duncanville, TX), Roger Franklin (Duncanville, TX), Isaiah Epps (Plainfield, NJ), Trevor “TJ” Cummings (Paterson Catholic, NJ), Fuquan Edwin (Paterson Catholic, NJ), Myles Mack (Paterson Catholic, NJ), Jayon James (Paterson Catholic, NJ), Kyle Anderson (Paterson Catholic, NJ) and many other talented players will suit up at this event.

The two headline games of the opening night at Rutgers University are Duncanville (TX) vs. LeFlore (AL) and Lincoln (NY) vs. Paterson Catholic (NJ).

In game one Duncanville brings in a starting five that’s all signed with major Division one schools but they have been a little disappointing this season. They were preseason number one team in the country but have already suffered six losses in their first eighteen games. They will have a tough time inside trying to defend DeMarcus Cousins from (LeFlore, AL). If Duncanville brings there A+ game then this game should come down to the wire and be a great game.

DeMarcus Cousins (LeFlore, AL) has been on a tear this season so far dominating the competition leading his team to a 14-2 record. He is the most dominating post player in the country for the class of 2009 when he feels like staying on the inside and using his size and skill set to take full advantage of his opponents instead of floating to the wing.

In game two Lincoln, NY stud guard Lance Stephenson will look to continue his stellar play this season when he takes on the young Paterson Catholic, NJ team. There is no denying that he is the best scorer in the class of 2009. He is a man-child with his opposing strength against his opponents, he can score in a variety of ways inside or outside off the dribble attacking the rim you name it he can do it. This will be his toughest year to repeat as PSAL champions and State champions; he will have to put his team on his back more often this year.

The team from New Jersey Paterson Catholic brings a talented group of young players into this match-up led by a trio of sophomores TJ Cummings, Fuquan Edwin and Jayon James. This team also boosts top five prospect Kyle Anderson of the class of 2012.

Another prospect to checkout is Plainfield, NJ guard Isaiah Epps who recently committed to Pittsburgh. He is an ultra quick guard who has excellent court vision along with the ability to get inside and finish tough baskets. He also is a good shooter with a nice mid-range game.
