Trevor Cooney 2011

Today one of the top shooters in the class of 2011 was at the Carrier Dome taking in the Big East match up between top 15 schools, Syracuse Vs Notre Dame. Syracuse took advantage of this big game and atmosphere to get hoops recruit Trevor Cooney to check out the school on a un-official visit.

Trevor Cooney a 6’3 shooting guard has a very impressive skill set for a player his age. He is an excellent shooter from anywhere on the court and also has the ability to finish inside when he attacks the rim. The best part of his game is his high basketball I.Q. and fundamental skills. He does a great job trying to get all of his teammates involved with his great floor vision.

He currently holds offers from Wake Forest, Syracuse, Delaware, Rutgers, St. Joseph, Virginia, West Virginia and Georgia. Others showing interest include Georgia Tech and Notre Dame amongst others.

Last season as a freshman for Sanford, Cooney averaged 18.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, while shooting 40 percent from 3-point range.

Michael Gilchrist (St. Patrick, NJ) Recruitment Update

Michael Gilchrist

Michael Gilchrist ’11 of St. Patrick’s (NJ) is arguably the number one baller in the sophomore class. A 6’7 combo forward, the sophomore sensation has carried the St. Pat’s Celtics this year, as North Carolina-signee Dexter Strickland ’09 has missed a lot of time and Kyrie Irving ’10 is still out due to transfer rules. Just yesterday, Gilchrist led his team to a come-from-behind win at Trenton Catholic (NJ), leading a massive fourth quarter comeback along with Paris Bennett ’09, a future George Mason Patriot. After Michael’s impressive 22-point performance, he was kind enough to talk to me for a few minutes. The lanky superstar, who said the Celtics pulled out yesterday’s win due to “just heart, heart really,” gave me his college list. The five lucky schools to be mentioned by Gilchrist were Seton Hall, UMass, Syracuse, Villanova, and Memphis, claiming offers from all five of them. Many people think he will end up as a Memphis Tiger, but only time will tell.

Glenn Bryant (Oak Hill Academy, VA) Class of 2009

Glenn has been having a very impressive season so far at Oak Hill Academy. He uses his tremendous amount of athletic ability to have a huge impact on both ends of the floor.

I watched him last weekend at Spalding HoopHall Classic where he was very active and strong on the boards in a win over Mt. St. Joseph, MD. He finished the game with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. After the recent performances Glenn has seen his recruitment start to pick up, getting interest from Memphis and Syracuse the following week after HoopHall Classic.
