Tristan Thompson

Texas lands a big commitment from 2010 Forward

On Tuesday afternoon Coach Rick Barnes received a huge verbal commitment from elite prospect Tristan Thompson from the class of 2010. He had the option to attend any school that he wanted to in the country with his unlimited upside. He was receiving interested from some of the elite programs in land before pulling the trigger for Texas.

He just wrapped up his high school season helping his team to a 24-1 record playing an extremely tough schedule. At 6’8 and 210 pounds Tristan has a unique skill set to go along with his size making him a combo forward who can finish on the inside or also play on the wing. He was a key player for St. Benedict’s (NJ) this year starting the season coming off the bench before earning a starting role. This was his first season at St. Benedict’s after transferring in from Canada.

Next season he will be asked to step-up and become more of an impact player for St. Benedict’s (NJ) since they will lose senior big man Samardo Samuels (Louisville). He will definitely be a prospect to keep an eye on this spring/summer on the AAU circuit along with the shoe camps. He will be playing AAU basketball for Grassroots Canada.
